If Robin Hood were alive today and looking for a good place to meet with his merry men he would have plenty of Nottingham venues to choose from. In all likelihood he could then celebrate his wedding to Maid Marian in the same place. Such is the all encompassing facilities offered by the myriad of event spaces available in a city where history and tradition meet modernity and hospitality. While Sherwood Forest and Nottingham Castle draw the visitors for their historic, cultural and scenic appeal, the city has much more to offer anyone with an important event to organise.

The stunning Norman Castle formed the starting point for the city, which grew up around it. Then as now, the Old Market Square forms the centrepiece from which all city life emanates and today forms one of the best loved Nottingham venues in its own right, staging many open air performances, local fairs and exhibitions.
By the industrial age the city was enjoying a golden period in textiles and lace and many of the most striking buildings date from this period. These include some very fine hotels with superb ballrooms and suites adapted for contemporary meetings and celebrations.
There is certainly something about a splendid period building which adds some style and substance to a meeting or conference but for a wedding or other celebration the environment is truly special.

Often a period hotel will offer set price deals for wedding parties where everything is included, from the catering to flowers and entertainment. Some establishments are even licensed to conduct the ceremony too and so provide a glorious uninterrupted day and convenience for guests. There is often an in-house event manager who will oversee the whole event and make sure everything runs smoothly.
The same is true of conferences, whether the Nottingham venues are well established or ultramodern. As with weddings, conference packages will incorporate catering and all facilities and equipment, usually for a set period such as a half day, full day or longer term meeting. Meeting spaces are usually flexible and can be adapted for different purposes such as a class room style for a presentation or stand up buffet for an exhibition or product launch. There may also be a main event space with break-out rooms for larger conferences and meetings with different components.

In terms of general business facilities, the more modern establishments may offer greater access to business services and features such as direct dial phones, computer hire, or print and copy facilities. They will also have bright and airy dining and lounge spaces which can be used for business lunches and drinks after daily meetings.
Nottingham has some great classic pubs and inns, many of them many centuries old. The traditional coaching inns tend to be located in the outskirts of the city and offer a rustic elegance and often some outdoor garden space which sets a charming scene for wedding receptions and photographs. The traditional pubs in the city are full of character and also make great Nottingham venues, employing event and function spaces for private parties and live performances. These too can be hired for a reception, often with catering and the services of an in-house DJ included.

Country clubs provide another source for Nottingham venues and sometimes these are in the form of grand manor houses with a wide array of leisure facilities to complement the event spaces. Sometimes associated with sports such as tennis or golf they also have superb indoor facilities such as pools, fitness suites and spas, all of which may be made available to meeting delegates and wedding guests.
